As this old photograph of Clachaig Hotel demonstrates, photographers have been visiting Glencoe for many years. It is usually the mountains and the magnificent views which catch the eye. However, the rate of change on the mountains is very slow and it is the pictures of places and people which are of more interest. Even then, the rate of change and the pace of development is much slower here in the Highlands than elsewhere in the country.

| Glencoe Mansion Shown here in all its original splendour, in a commanding position overlooking Loch Leven. The left hand wing has since been demolished and the building is now used as a hospital. | |
![]() | Japanese Garden Now barely recognisable, this small garden area sits below the outflow from the hospital (mansion) lochan. Forest Enterprise promotes a series of popular short walks here, just outside Glencoe village. |
| Clachaig Inn The sign states that Mr MacPhee is the licensee, whilst closer examination shows 2 cows sat to the left of the building where the main hotel entrance is now located. | |
![]() | Leacantium A familiar view for anyone who has stayed at the Glencoe Bunkhouse, just along the road from Clachaig Inn. |
| Upper Carnoch House One of the estate workers houses in Glencoe village. | ![]() |

| Torren The former river bailiff’s house at Torren | ![]() |
![]() | Black Corries Note the architectural similarities with Torren. This house was built on Rannoch Moor for the estate stalker. |
| Achnacon Very recognisable, as little has changed at this property which sits beside the main A82 trunk road through the glen. | ![]() |
![]() | Carnoch House This house is now home to Carnoch Outdoor Centre in the heart of Glencoe village. |
| Invercoe House A substantial house discretely located in woodlands by the river Coe. | |
