Built by General Wade, High Bridge is also famous as being the location where the first shots were fired in the 1745 Jacobite Uprising. The bridge collapsed some years ago, but attempts are now being raised to protect the ruin from further collapse. A new path forming a round trip walk from the nearby Commando Memorial make viewing the bridge much easier.
